1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL

Overview

This 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL spent time in California and Oregon before being acquired by the seller in 2021, and it is finished in metallic beige over brown and tan upholstery. Power comes from a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a brown folding soft top, a body-color removable hard top, 14″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, fog lights, air conditioning, power windows, and a Becker Europa AM/FM radio. Work in 2022 is said to have included the replacement of the tires, shifter bushings, and battery. This R107 convertible shows 115k miles and is now offered manufacturer’s literature, a stamped service booklet, service records, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.

The car was finished in Tunis Beige Metallic (462) from the factory and is said to have been repainted under prior ownership. Features include a brown soft top, a body-color removable hardtop, fog lights, polished aluminum trim, and slim chrome bumpers. The hardtop cable and latch were replaced in November 2022. Scratches and chips in the paint as well as holes in the soft top are shown in the image gallery below.

Steel 14″ wheels wear body-color painted covers and are wrapped in 205/70 Michelin XWX tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes. The tires, tie rods, steering coupling, and rear sway bar bushings are said to have been replaced in 2022.

The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in two-tone brown and tan upholstery along with matching treatments for the door panels. Amenities include power windows, air conditioning, woven floor mats, and a Becker Europa AM/FM radio. The shifter bushings were replaced in November 2022.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 115k miles, approximately 500 of which were added by the seller.

The 4.5-liter M117 V8 features Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 190 horsepower when new. The battery is said to have been replaced in November 2022. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
